Blacksburg High School took the girls’ 4D outdoor track championship this past week with the Bruin boys placing second.
Kensington Jones took first in the girls’ shot with a 38-0 mark and first in the discus with a throw of 121-08.
Tamoy Douglas added first places in the 100 and 200 meters as the Blacksburg girls tallied 198 points to second place Charlottesville’s 92 and third place James Woods with 70 points.
The Bruin boys received a big day from Maddox Jones who finished second in the 100 meters, and first in 200, 400 and long jump.
Rivers Matthews was second in the boys’ 3,200 meters.
Josie Marshall helped with the girls’ point total with first in the 100 meter hurdles with teammate Jayla Bandy in second.
Lilly Barlowe would cross the line first in the 300 hurdles with Bandy second and Marshall third. Barlowe would also claim a second in the long jump and a second in the 200.
Reilly Thomas was second and Tess Dickhaus third in the 800 meters.
The Blacksburg girls also had a first place in the 4X400 relay.
