Local chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently met to host a luncheon in honor of Virginia State Regent Kathy Rugh at the Blacksburg Country Club.
The District VII DAR Chapters participating were Alleghany, Craig Valley, Floyd Courthouse, General William Campbell and George Pearis. State Regent Rugh shared comments about her patriots and what America 250 means to her.
Chalk Talk Evangelist Dwight Haynes and his wife, Ann, presented a program for the American 250 event by singing and creating a chalk drawing of George Washington’s prayer at Valley Forge, and this drawing was presented to State Regent Rugh. Dwight and Ann are missionaries, and they focus this chalk art ministry on the teaching and preaching of God’s word.
Alleghany Chapter Vice Regent Margie Sentelle; Craig Valley Chapter Regent Tina Crawford; Floyd Courthouse Chapter Regent Lynn Reed; General William Campbell Chapter Regent Nona Gabbert; and George Pearis Chapter Regent Jeanne Butler were present and gave a history of each chapter.
The event was held Saturday, April 18, 2026.
