River Ridge District boys’ soccer player of year, Craig Huxtable, has announced plans to play at Roanoke College this coming fall.
The Blacksburg standout, which has helped to lead his team to the state championship game this past week, finished the regular season with 25 goals and seven assists.
Huxtable said Roanoke College has countless wonderful aspects that immediately made him feel like he was becoming part of a family.
“The culture, competitive environment, and close bond between teammates were all key parts of my decision. From the moment I stepped on campus, Coach (Ryan) Pflugrad and the assistant coaches made me feel at home. They were very supportive and complimentary, while also showing me how strong and driven the Roanoke program is. I am beyond excited to get to work with them starting in August and to continue learning,” he said.
Roanoke has a current total enrollment of 1,759 students, and its athletic programs compete in the NCAA Division III and Old Dominion Athletic Conference. This past season, the team finished 8-10 overall.
“At the next level, my goal is to win the ODAC with Roanoke and become the best player and person I can be alongside my new teammates. I hope to push them to become better, and I know they will do the same for me,” Huxtable said.
At Roanoke, Huxtable plans to major in finance and continue learning more about the business world.
