A nine-day, nine-hole challenge at Auburn Hills Golf Course is going viral.
Viewers are flocking to the posts as a special competition continues between Golf Pro Jeff Gandee and his assistant, Carter White.
“I thought this was a great way to entertain our social-media base and attract new people,” Gandee said.
This is not your normal “golf” competition. Instead, it includes playing left-handed, using a driver and putters only, hitting off their knees, use of a wedge, kicking a soccer ball, throwing a golf ball, using a 7-iron club only and using the famous “Happy Gilmore” stroke.
“The response has been great. People love it, and enjoy us making fools out of ourselves,” he laughed this past week.
White is a Radford University graduate and only started playing golf in his sophomore year of high school. During his time at RU, he worked as a Cart Boy at Auburn Hills. Now, he is working toward his PGA-PGM program to become a Class A golf profession.
Gandee currently leads the competition by two-strokes.
