Classic movies at the Lyric Theatre

Central Appalachian Cherokee Tribe with Ashes Ayita Wolf
Ashes Ayita Wolf, Tribal Community Affairs Director, will share history about the Cherokee Tribe at the Radford Public Library, 2 p.m. She will dress in tribal regalia and will explain her attire. She’ll share artifacts including gaming stone activity and cookware. This presentation is great for older kids and adults! Come explore, learn, and enjoy hands-on engagement as we learn about the Central Appalachian Cherokee Tribe.

Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting
Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.

Table to Scene Dinner – A Celebration of Art, Food, and Film

Check out Soil to Soul, the museum’s community art show of work focused on agrarian and gardening culture, sample food from local restaurants, and then head over to The Lyric Theatre for a screening of Italian Wannabe, a documentary celebrating the connection between food and community. Montgomery Museum full slate of events
At 4 p.m., a ribbon-cutting held by the Chamber of Commerce will take place for the museum’s new ADA accessible lift – and then celebrate the Montgomery County 250 exhibit, along with the following art exhibits: the Textile Artists of Virginia’s Balance, an art theme show on migration, and the plein air artworks made as a part of Arts Love NRV. Additionally, the 24th is Giving Day! Museum’s fundraising goal is $65,000. Early giving is open now and Giving Day is from noon on June 24 – noon on the 25.

Summer Community Mural Painting
Outside the Armory Gallery, 203 Draper Road NW, Blacksburg, 2-5 p.m. Community members of all ages are invited to help paint a collaborative piece created from children’s art during the 2026 Summer Solstice Festival. Following the festival, the finished mural will be displayed at the Armory Gallery alongside the original children’s drawings.

All About Hummingbirds w/ Virginia Master Naturalists
At the Radford Public Library, 3 p.m. The talk will focus on Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds. We will learn about hummingbird characteristics, nesting habits, feeding habits, hummingbird feeders, migration, and more! The talk will be presented by Mark Pierson. He has been an NRV Master Naturalist since 2013. He is also a member of the New River Valley Bird Club and the Virginia Native Plant Society New River Chapter. He also recently became a Flora of Virginia Ambassador. For adults and older children.

Parade participants sought
Participants are needed for Blacksburg’s July 4th parade, which is organized by the Mount Tabor Ruritan Club. This year’s theme is “250th Trifecta – Country, Commonwealth and County.” The parade starts at 2 p.m. on Eheart Street in Blacksburg, runs through downtown on Main Street, and ends on Alumni Mall.
Entries can be floats, bicycles, wagons, marchers, walkers, antique/classic cars, Jeeps, trucks, fire engines, scouts, bands, sports teams, etc. Information is available on the Mount Tabor Ruritan Club’s Facebook page, by texting 540-449-6178, or at the Blacksburg Parks & Recreation office.
