Wohlford, Retha (Vickie) Blue

Retha (Vickie) Blue Wohlford, of Blacksburg, at 92 years of age went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 20, 2026. She was the daughter of the late John Abrum Blue and Willie Carden Blue.  he was preceded in death by her husband, William (Cheese) Wohlford; brothers, Samuel Blue, Robert Blue and her sister Ruth Blue Callahan.

Vickie will be deeply missed by her surviving family including her two daughters, Tammy Fritz of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and Michelle and husband David Bush of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons, William (Bill) Wohlford Jr. and his wife Melissa of Canton, Ga. and Michael Wohlford and wife Marcy of Roanoke; grandchildren, Laura and Taj Greenlee, Scott and Cleryn Fritz, Kailey Bush, Bethany and Josh Hunter, Rachel and Josh Dameron, Matthew Wohlford, Haley and Garrett Morgan, and Mallory and Austin Guevara. She also leaves behind seven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her loving and giving nature.

Born Jan. 30, 1934, in Belspring, Vickie grew up in Radford. After high school she worked at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, Md. and Saint Albans Hospital in Radford before her marriage. She then fulfilled her God given purpose as a homemaker to support her husband and children. She also served as a caretaker for a number of her elderly neighbors in Blacksburg. As an empty nester, Vickie worked for a season at Furniture City in Christiansburg and Virginia Tech assisting with student IDs. She was also an active volunteer for political elections. Vickie was a faithful member of the Blacksburg Baptist Church for over 50 years who supported her in grounding her children in Biblical values.

The family will receive friends at McCoy Funeral home in Blacksburg Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026 at 10 a.m. The funeral will be held at Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Samaritans Purse at samaritanspurse.org. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home.
