Montgomery County schools are moving ahead with plans for capital improvement projects this calendar year at just over $8.6 million.
The most expensive project is $4.286 million for HVAC replacement and upgrades at Auburn Elementary School. The list also includes $2.087 million to replace main electrical items and a hot water heater at Shawsville Middle School.
Smaller projects include: $183,717 to replace the existing handicapped ramp at Gilbert Linkous Elementary School in Blacksburg;
$370,000 for façade, gutter and façade work at Kipps Elementary School on Prices Fork Road;
$619,200 to replace the tennis courts at Christiansburg High School;
$272,000 for stair replacement at Montgomery Central;
$99,000 for a generator replacement at Auburn Elementary; and
$707,200 for the replacement of tennis courts at Eastern Montgomery High School.
