Just six months removed from winning the state championship, Adam Pickeral has stepped down as boys’ soccer coach at Christiansburg High School.
Pickeral’s departure comes shortly after he led the Blue Demons to the 2026 Class 3 state championship, securing the first boys’ soccer state title in the school’s history. He was also named the Virginia High School League’s Class 3 Coach of the Year.
He guided the Blue Demons to a 17-5-1 record and the program’s first state championship with a 4-2 win over Brentsville District in the Class 3 finals.
During his four seasons leading the Blue Demons program, his teams have compiled a 58-19-5 record and have appeared in three consecutive state semifinals. Following three seasons as an assistant coach at Christiansburg, his teams have claimed three straight Region D championships.
Montgomery County schools has posted an immediate opening to fill the vacancy.
His departure comes at a time when Christiansburg High School is also seeking coaches for both the boys’ and girls’ tennis teams along with an opening for a boys’ lacrosse coach.
