CHRISTIANSBURG – The NAACP Montgomery Co-Radford City-Floyd Co Branch (NAACP MRF) and the League of Women Voters – Montgomery County (LWV-MC) are hosting candidate forums for the Town of Blacksburg and Montgomery County.
Candidates running for each elected position have been invited to participate.
The Montgomery County Sheriff Candidate Forum and Commonwealth’s Attorney Conversation is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026. The Commonwealth’s Attorney Conversation features candidate Patrick R. Jensen, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Sheriff Candidate Forum follows at 7 p.m. featuring candidates Robert G. Page and Tim Andrew Brown. The event will take place at the Montgomery County Government Center starting at 6:30 p.m.
The Blacksburg Town Council Candidate Forum is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, featuring candidates Joel L. Goodhart and Leslie C. Harwood. The event will take place at the Blacksburg Municipal Building starting at 6:30 p.m.
Early voting began on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, and ends on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Visit www.elections.virginia.gov for your polling location.
The NAACP MRF and LWV-MC are nonpartisan organizations focused on educating the public and mobilizing voters. The candidate forums offer voters and residents the opportunity to hear from candidates and ask questions.
