I recently read an article by Dr. Barton Goldsmith; I have read numerous articles by Barton. They always make sense, so I felt that his article was worth repeating. He writes a lot about old people, and that is what I am, so it is very meaningful to me. In the article, his first comment was:
“I need to feel relevant, like I’m still contributing something to society and if I can make a difference in someone’s life that is reason enough to keep going and do something to make life a little better for everyone.”
“It’s almost never too late to chase a dream. Having goals — even small ones — keeps you moving instead of just letting life happen with no motivation; that becomes more important as you get older.”
“Goals don’t need to be big; daily exercise, helping your neighbor, treating someone special, being kind and helpful to others. The list goes on …”
“When we quit, we quit not only on society, but we quit on ourselves. Nothing is worse than quitting on ourselves.”
Mr. Goldsmith said it about as well as you can say something. I am going to try to keep myself motivated and looking ahead. You never know what is around the corner.

Well, we just got over “Be kind to animals week,” so now you can start writing to your congressman again.” –Will Rogers 4/20/34
