Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library is now offering an expanded set of digitized newspaper content available on their Digital News Archive.
Over 150,000 new pages of content from the News Messenger/ Montgomery News Messenger have been added to the Archive.
The new digitized content is available to anyone with an Internet connection and adds to the library’s existing Floyd County newspaper collection online. Over 100 years of Floyd Press, and 50 years of Montgomery News Messenger/News Messenger can be searched, viewed, and saved as images.
Digitization of the Montgomery County newspaper content has been made possible by the generous support of the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library Foundation. Floyd County digitization was supported by donations from the Floyd County Library Building Fund, Inc.
“We have these resources available on microfilm for library visitors,” said Library Director Karim Khan, “but we hope that many more users can use the online resource to learn about this history of the New River Valley and the people who lived here.”
Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library’s Digital News Archive is available from the library’s homepage at www.mfrl.org.
