The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery County-Blacksburg completed its 78th year by installing new officers and directors for 2024-25 recently at Warm Hearth Village.
The major focus of Kiwanis is serving the children of the world one child one community at a time.
The 2024-25 officers include: (pictured left to right) Past President Tom Layne, President Doug Butts, Vice President Posey Jones, Treasurer Jerry Jones, and Secretary Don Linkous who were installed by Lt Governor Steve Simmons.
The club also installed new directors Don Conner, Linda Felts, Miranda Layne, and Chuck Smith, for two years, while Jim Lyons, Jim Marchman, Dori Marriott, and Andrew Walker serve as directors for one more year.
Three Kiwanians were awarded the Legion of Honor including Past President Tom Layne, Carl Polan 45 years, and Jim Lyons and Don Linkous 40 years.
Montgomery Co-Blacksburg Kiwanis meets every Thursday for lunch plus a program at Warm Hearth Village Center. If interested, please join us for lunch at 12:00 pm. The club held a pancake breakfast at Blacksburg United Methodist Church’s Whisner Building ($8 and no reservation needed). Also, the club holds a Brunswick stew sale in April at Price’s Fork Elementary School and a June Golf tournament.
