CHRISTIANSBURG – The Montgomery Museum of Art & History is hosting Montgomery County Public Schools for a Student Art Show.

This is the second year the Museum has hosted art from the majority of Montgomery County’s public schools, with the student art shows being highly attended and much beloved by the community. This show offers a combined vision of student art across the county and has been specially curated by middle and high school art teachers.

The museum strives to serve all members of the community and by exhibiting student art the museum encourages youth to embrace their creativity and artistic skills.

“What I love about this show is the opportunity to celebrate our student artists in a setting that values the arts,” says Christiansburg High School art educator Carrie Lyons. “We are able to share their work with our community in a way that builds student confidence and encourages them to continue creating.”

Art students from Auburn Middle School, Blacksburg Middle School, Christiansburg Middle, Shawsville Middle School, Auburn High School, Blacksburg High School, Christiansburg High School, Eastern Montgomery High School and Montgomery Central will be participating in the show which will run through Mar. 28.

The reception for the show will be held Thursday, Mar. 20, 5 – 7 p.m. Judging for the middle and high school student show will be made by a local retired art educator and local artist. Cash prizes and acknowledgement certificates will be awarded to winning students.
