The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce recognized several outstanding leaders during the 2026 Women’s Leadership Conference, honoring women whose leadership, service, and professional accomplishments continue to strengthen the New River Valley.

The annual conference celebrates women who demonstrate exceptional leadership, inspire others, and contribute meaningfully to their organizations and communities.

“The Women’s Leadership Conference continues to be one of the Chamber’s most meaningful events,” said Steve Baffuto, President & CEO of Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. “Each year, we have the opportunity to celebrate incredible leaders while also creating space for connection, learning, and inspiration. The women recognized today represent the strength, talent, and dedication that help make the New River Valley such a vibrant place to live and work.”

This year’s award recipients include:

Catalyst Award – Cassidy Jones

The Catalyst Award honors a woman whose leadership sparks meaningful change and empowers others to grow. Cassidy Jones of Slate Creek Builders has played a pivotal role in expanding the company and has built a career defined not only by professional excellence but also by advocacy—particularly for women working in industries where they have historically been underrepresented.

Community Builder Award – Lyndsi Hale

The Community Builder Award recognizes a leader whose work strengthens the fabric of the community through collaboration, innovation, and service. Lyndsi Hale of Mountain Lake Lodge, has played a transformative role in revitalizing one of the region’s most iconic destinations, has prioritized local partnerships and community initiatives, through her leadership and dedication, continues to contribute to a stronger and more connected NRV.

Emerging Business Woman of the Year – Becky Brawley

The Emerging Business Woman of the Year Award recognizes a rising leader demonstrating exceptional promise and impact in her field. Becky Brawley, Associate Broker with Nest Realty, has quickly become one of the New River Valley’s top-producing real estate professionals. Brawley earned her Associate Broker’s license within just four and a half years of entering the industry and has built her career around a “people first” philosophy.

Business Woman of the Year – Brooke Brinson

The Business Woman of the Year Award recognizes a woman who exemplifies leadership, strategic vision, and sustained excellence in business. Brooke Brinson, owner of Ed & Ethel’s Fine Jewelry, has led the company through remarkable growth since co-founding the business in 2020. Brooke’s commitment to community is equally strong, partnering with local nonprofits and organizations while demonstrating that successful businesses can also serve as powerful forces for good.

Excellence in Leadership Award – Marissa Smith

The Chamber also recognized Marissa Smith, Vice President of Membership Engagement, with the Excellence in Leadership Award for her dedication to the Women’s Leadership Conference and her ongoing work to create meaningful leadership opportunities for women throughout the region.

The Chamber Women’s Leadership Conference has been happening since 2014, and has continuously grown larger, with sold out attendance for the past three years. It continues to serve as a regional gathering that celebrates leadership, encourages professional development, and strengthens the network of women leading businesses and organizations throughout Southwest Virginia, and beyond.
