NRV volunteers needed to support local blood donations

Blood donation efforts across the New River Valley depend on more than generous donors—they rely on community members willing to serve as Blood Donor Ambassadors.

Volunteers are currently needed at the Blacksburg blood donation site, located at 250 S. Main Street, Suite 200, Blacksburg, as well as surrounding communities of Blacksburg, Christiansburg and Radford.

Blood Donor Ambassadors help create a welcoming environment by greeting donors, assisting with check‑in, providing refreshments, and thanking donors for giving lifesaving blood. No medical experience is required. Volunteers receive training and support and play an important role in ensuring donors have a positive experience.

Blood collected in the New River Valley helps support patients throughout Southwest Virginia, including those receiving treatment for cancer, trauma injuries, surgeries, and chronic illnesses. Consistent volunteer support allows donation sites to remain open and serve the region’s hospitals and patients.

Residents of the New River Valley – including students, retirees, civic groups, faith communities, and working professionals—are encouraged to consider this meaningful volunteer opportunity. Flexible scheduling makes it easy to serve on a regular or occasional basis.
