Fourth annual Blacksburg Library Chili Crawl Feb. 23
The Fourth Annual Blacksburg Restaurants’ Chili Crawl at the Blacksburg Library will be held from 12-2 p.m., or while supplies last, Feb. 23.
Celebrate National Chili day at the Blacksburg Library with some of your favorite Blacksburg restaurants – all under one roof in the Blacksburg Library Community Room.
Chili lovers will enjoy sampling a variety of chili creations. Stop in and visit each chili bar to get a taste of the flavor of each participating restaurant: The Blacksburg Taphouse, Cabo Fish Taco, Café de Bangkok, Gillie’s, Gaucho Brazilian Grille, Souvlaki, Tabula Rasa and Wikiteria Café.
You’ll enjoy having a small sample of a wide spectrum of chili, including Thai, vegetarian, Mediterranean, Brazilian and Greek! Learn about local restaurants and taste what they have to offer! Don’t miss this free, delicious and festive community event.

Annual winter burn ban in effect Feb. 15-April 30
On Feb. 15, the Town’s annual winter burn ban begins and will be in effect through April 30.
During this time, as moisture levels are typically low, open burning in Christiansburg and Montgomery County is only allowed from 4 p.m. to midnight.
If you plan on having a fire, you must notify the Christiansburg Fire Department (540-382-4388 – leave a message) and the NRV 911 Communication Center (382-4343).
Fires must be attended at all times and be completely out before you leave the burn area.
Christiansburg American Legion meeting March 1
Christiansburg American Legion Post 59 meets the first Wednesday of every month. If you have served federal active duty in the U.S Armed Forces during any of the war eras, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving, you are eligible for membership in the American Legion.
Meetings are held 6:30-7:30 p.m. at 490 High St. in Christiansburg. Membership costs $35 and meals are $4. For more information, contact Jack Pickering 381-0989
NRV youth ministry hosting Valley Wide Youth Rally March 25
Straight Street youth ministry invites all youth ages 12-17 to attend its Valley Wide Youth Rally on March 25 at 3325 N. Franklin St. in Christiansburg. The event is free and will be held from 6-10 p.m.
Plenty of games, contests and prizes along with refreshments will be available. Christian rock band Beauty From Ruins and Christian rapper Matthew Tuck will provide music. The Pursuit Drama Team will provide additional entertainment.

Christiansburg Library hosting author Beth Macy March 28
The Christiansburg Library is pleased to announce an author talk with Beth Macy on her newest book “Truevine: Two Brothers, a Kidnapping, and a Mother’s Quest.” Macy will be speaking March 28 at 6 p.m. at the library. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
Beth Macy is the New York Times bestselling author of Factory Man. She was also an award winning journalist at the Roanoke Times for two decades and a Niemann Fellow at Harvard University.
