Things – race cars, specifically – will be back on track at Motor Mile Speedway in 2019.
Motor Mile Speedway’s 2019 schedule release heralds the anticipated return of a racing program. Pending NASCAR approval, the New River Valley short track will be embarking on its 31st NASCAR-sanctioned season, with the NASCAR WHELEN All-American Series Late Model division competing alongside four points-paying support classes that include Limited Sportsman, MOD-4, Super Street and UCAR.
Motor Mile Speedway hosted a slate of successful special events in 2018 as the facility operated without NASCAR racing for the first time since becoming NASCAR-sanctioned in 1988.
“We’re ready to go racing again. The entire racing community has been very supportive; they’re the reason we’re reviving our racing program,” said Motor Mile Speedway & Dragway General Manager Michelle Vaught. “Everyone is very excited, and we’re optimistic that 2019 will be a very special season for our teams, sponsors and fans.”
Motor Mile Speedway’s 2019 schedule is comprised of 10 race dates. The NASCAR WHELEN All-American Series will compete in a total of 18 races; eight 50-lap twin-bill events will be supplemented by two 100-lap contests.
All support divisions will be featured in at least 10 races in 2019.
Additionally, Motor Mile Speedway will showcase a trio of special events in 2019. Headlined by the annual Independence Holiday Monster Truck Show, events include the acclaimed Knights of Destruction’s Tour of Destruction and the long-awaited return of the CARS Response Energy Tour.
Motor Mile Speedway ownership recently announced sweeping policy improvements aimed at enhancing the fan experience in 2019.
Soft-sided, six-pack-sized coolers will be permitted during regular race events, and smoking will be restricted to one designated smoking area.
Minor modifications to the track’s racing program also will be implemented in an effort to elevate on-track excitement.
Rules packages and racing program announcements are forthcoming.
