Our beloved brother passed away on March 15, 2019.

Growing up in Connecticut he loved to garden, farm, and he worked a variety of jobs in those early years. David graduated from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture in Amherst MA. After graduation, he served in the Army for four years including a deployment as a maintenance operator in Germany. He then moved to Virginia and fell in love with the Blacksburg area where he resided for over 35 years.

David was a man of many talents and interests. He was a longtime employee at Eats Natural Foods and was a manager for many years. He enjoyed being a “Fibersmyth” dyeing and spinning beautiful yarns to bring to shows and fairs. Often times people looking for yarn were told to “go to the man at Eats”. He operated his own studio in the Blacksburg area, supported a knitters club, and belonged to a spinners group. David was very interested in genealogy digging into his own family roots. He often assisted others with their research, helping to locate deceased relatives’ grave sites. Being a lover of nature he enjoyed hiking and discovering the natural beauty all around us.

David was predeceased by his parents Albert and Margaret (Elliott) Simpson. He is survived by his brothers Barry (St Louis, MO) and John Simpson (Centerville, IN) and his sister Karen Woodward (Geoffrey) (Chaplin, CT) his niece Sarah and nephews Matt and Bill.

We wish to thank all his many friends for their support and kind words. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in CT.

May all sentient beings have happiness and the causes of happiness

May all sentient beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering

May all sentient beings have joy and the causes of joy

May all sentient beings remain in great equanimity, free from attachment and aversion

Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
