Minter joins Hokie staff

Virginia Tech Athletics announced the addition of Brad Minter to the strength and conditioning staff for football as an assistant director on Monday. Minter joins an experienced group of performance coaches under the direction of Ben Hilgart, Associate AD for Strength & Conditioning.

Minter spent this past spring at Mercer where he was a strength and conditioning graduate assistant. At Mercer, he designed and conducted daily training programs for men’s and women’s soccer and track and field while assisting football and multiple other sports.

Prior to working at Mercer, Minter gained valuable knowledge and experience in two SEC weight rooms. The Hueytown, Ala. native started at the collegiate level at South Carolina, where he worked directly with the football program, before heading to LSU for the 2017 football season. In Baton Rouge, Minter also assisted the men’s and women’s basketball programs, tennis, golf, volleyball, softball and baseball.

Ladies finish sixth

The Virginia Tech women’s golf team posted a three-round score of 896 and finished in sixth place at the 31st Annual ACC Women’s Golf Championship on Saturday afternoon. The three-day event was played at the 6,089-yard, par 72 Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The tournament schedule was altered due to inclement weather in the area on Friday. The first two rounds were contested on Thursday and the final round was played as scheduled on Saturday.
Tech shot a 5-over 293 in the Thursday morning round and followed that with a 295 in the afternoon round on Thursday. Tech finished with a 308 on Saturday.
