NAACP and League of Women Voters announce 2023 candidate forums

CHRISTIANSBURG – The NAACP Montgomery Co.-Radford City-Floyd Co. Branch (MRF NAACP) and the League of Women Voters – Montgomery County (LWV-MC) are hosting a series of candidate forums.

Candidates for each office are invited to participate. Forums will be held on Thursdays beginning at 7 p.m. Voters, residents, and community organizations are invited to attend.

Candidate forums will be held on the following days:

Thursday, Aug. 24: House of Delegates Districts 41 and 42 and Senate Districts 4 and 5 at the Lyric Theater, Blacksburg.

Thursday, Sept. 7: Montgomery County School Board at the Montgomery County Government Building, Christiansburg.

Thursday, Sept. 14: Montgomery County Board of Supervisors at the Montgomery County Government Building.

Thursday, Sept. 21: Montgomery County Clerk of Court, Treasurer, and Commissioner of Revenue at the Montgomery County Government Building.

Thursday, Sept. 28: Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney and Sheriff at the Montgomery County Government Building.

Thursday, Oct. 5: Blacksburg Town Council in the Blacksburg Council Chamber.

Thursday, Oct. 12: Christiansburg Town Council in the Christiansburg Council Chamber.

The NAACP MRF and LWV-MC are nonpartisan organizations whose missions include educating voters. The candidate forums are designed to provide voters and residents the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of candidates.
