“Advancing Our Roads” initiative to help motorists address vehicle equipment issues
CHRISTIANSBURG – Advance Auto Parts and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office have joined forces on a program designed to increase roadway safety for county residents.
Alongside MCSO deputies and staff, Advance’s store team recently announced a gift card donation of $1,500 to launch the program. When deputies observe a minor equipment infraction during a traffic stop such as a nonfunctioning headlight, signal light or taillight, they may choose to issue a $25 gift card while encouraging residents to use the card to safely repair their vehicles.
“Our store team in Christiansburg is looking forward to working alongside the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on this unique program,” said BJ Burns, Advance’s district manager. “A minor equipment issue such as a broken headlight can result in a major safety hazard, so we’re excited to play a role alongside Sheriff Partin and his deputies to make our roadways across the county safer, especially as more motorists take to the road for their upcoming holiday travels.”
Advance has a long history in the region, with Arthur Taubman opening the first ever Advance store in Roanoke in 1932.
“We are very excited to participate in this partnership with Advance Auto Parts to help make the roadways of Montgomery County safer,” said Sheriff Hank Partin. “Reducing the amount of equipment deficiencies on our roads not only makes it safer for the operator but everyone else around them. This is also an opportunity to help those who may not be able to make repairs because of cost, and as the holiday’s approach money only gets tighter. If we can help them with this gift card rather than issuing them a summons, it is a win for everyone.”
Motorists receiving a gift card may use the card at Advance’s locations across Montgomery County, in the Roanoke area or online at AdvanceAutoParts.com.
