Delegate Nick Rush clearly understands the challenges facing Virginia’s Law Enforcement Officers.
Our Law Enforcement Officers do a tough and honorable job every day, on little pay, while facing opposition from some members of the communities they serve and protect, and even from elected officials.
Delegate Rush was instrumental in providing funds for a new Virginia State Police area office in the New River Valley. This will lead to quicker response times, better officer safety and more effective community relations opportunities.
Addressing the low pay of our officers was important to Delegate Rush. He was a key part of the successful effort to increase pay for Virginia State Police Troopers and to provide compression pay raises for Sheriff’s Deputies.
An increase in pay leads to retention of experienced officers, attracting the most qualified candidates for new positions, as well as lessening the burden on the families of these officers.
An important piece of legislation introduced by Delegate Rush provides a mechanism for reporting to the Department of State Police when a circuit court restores a felon’s right to possess, transport, and carry a firearm, ammunition for a firearm, or a stun weapon (HB 1745).
This bill will be a crucial piece to improving officer safety, as well as a tool to assist in keeping our communities safer.
Delegate Nick Rush is a friend we cannot afford to lose in the 7th District, a true friend to Law Enforcement and their families. Please consider re-electing Nick Rush Nov. 7.
Sincerely,
LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) Wives of the New River Valley
