Pets-of-the-week

Each Saturday the paper features a dog and a cat from the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center (480 Cinnabar Road, Christiansburg).

Sweet Claire, 2, has already had quite a life story! She was found in September with five tiny kittens. At the time, she had a broken pelvis and dislocated hip from being hit by a car. She has healed up quite well and is now looking for her furever home! Claire is curious and gentle, yet also bold and friendly. She gets along great with other animals and loves to “talk.” She enjoys napping in the sunshine, eating yogurt, and meeting people. She is not a cuddler per se, but her favorite place to be is right up next to her humans.
This handsome guy would make an awesome hiking or running partner, as he loves long walks and the chance to run and romp in the Animal Care and Adoption Center’s fenced-in yard. With daily exercise and positive training, Djembe, 3, would make a wonderful and loyal companion! He would do best in a home without small children.

Those interested in adopting a pet can call 382-5795 or visit www.montgomerycountyva.gov/acac. Hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Walk-ins are welcome.
