Mount Tabor Ruritan Club will hold its May fish fry on Saturday, May 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Slusser’s Chapel picnic shelter (1531 Mount Tabor Road) in Blacksburg.

Summertime and the living is easy at the first Mt. Tabor Ruritan Fish Fry of the year serenaded by Dynamic Sound DJ Earl Brown.

Adults dinners cost $8, children under 12, $4, and carry-out is $8.

“Dynamic Sound DJ Earl Brown will be spinning some great music for us this month,” club officer Gavin Faulkner wrote in an announcement.

In its fifty-fourth year, the club raises funds through these summer fish fries and autumn apple-butter making to support college scholarships, fund the Blacksburg July 4th Parade & Movie, maintain the community picnic shelter, provide Christmas food certificates, and help 4-H and scouting programs.

“The group gives monthly donations to the Blacksburg Food Pantry, and community roadside clean-up,” Faulkner wrote.

Ruritan fish fries are held on the second Saturday of each month, May through September.
