The Montgomery County Education Association Political Action Committee (MCEA-PAC) has voted to recommend four candidates for Montgomery County Board of Supervisors: Derek Kitts, in District B; Anthony Grafsky in District E; and re-electing Mary Biggs in District F and April DeMotts in District G.

“As a member of the Board of Supervisors, Mary Biggs and April DeMotts have shown support for the students and educators in Montgomery County. They, as well as Mr. Kitts and Mr. Grafsky understand the pivotally important role of public education in our community and sees education funding as an investment in the future of Montgomery County,” said Erin Bull, chair of the Education Association’s PAC.

For school board, the MCEA- PAC has endorsed Penny Franklin for re-election in District B and three candidates for open seats: S.Derek Rountree in District E, Laura Purcell in District F, and Ed Gitre in District G.

“We need board members on both the MCPS School Board and the Board of Supervisors who not only support public education and public educators, but who see the value of public education. We need board members who will advocate for our students and our staff in both opinion and action.” said Katie Seidemann, President of the MCEA.

“We believe the candidates that we have recommended value public education in Montgomery County and represent the future of our school system,” said Erin Bull, chair of the Education Association’s PAC.

In order to be considered for recommendation by MCEA-PAC, candidates must complete a questionnaire and participate in a personal interview.
