Town of Christiansburg
Find out about a project to make intersection and pedestrian improvements along
sections of Route 460 Business (North Franklin Street) and Route 114 (Peppers
Ferry Road) in Christiansburg. This project involves modifying several intersections to
improve safety and constructing approximately 3,600 linear feet of new sidewalk. The
project entails the following:
• Adding a traffic signal at the intersection of Route 114 and Market Street.
• Reconfiguring the Route 114 and Market Street intersection so that drivers who
currently turn left onto westbound Route 114 or who drive straight across Route
114 turn right and make a U-turn at the next available crossover.
• Redirecting drivers who currently turn left from westbound Route 114 onto
southbound Market Street to make a U-turn at the next available signal.
• Modifying the shared left and through lane on westbound Route 114 at the North
Franklin Street intersection to become a through lane only.
• Reconfiguring the intersection of Route 114 and Laurel Street so that Laurel
Street drivers who currently turn left or proceed straight across Route 114 turn
right and make a U-turn at the next available signal.
• Reconfiguring the intersection of North Franklin Street at the Roselawn Memorial
Gardens so that cemetery traffic that currently turns left onto North Frankin Street
turns right and proceeds to make a U-turn.
• Adding sidewalk along the westbound lane of North Franklin Street between
Sycamore Street/Spradlin Farm Drive and Peppers Ferry Road.
• Adding new sections of sidewalk to connect to the existing network along
Peppers Ferry Road and at its intersection with North Franklin Street.
• Adding crosswalks and pedestrian signals at North Franklin Street’s intersections
with Sycamore Street/Spradlin Farm Drive, Laurel Street and Peppers Ferry
Road and Pepper Ferry Road’s intersection with Market Street.
• Adding crosswalks at Route 114’s intersections with Sycamore Street and Laurel
Street.
