The family lived in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jackson, Tennessee and Memphis, Tennessee. She attended Harding College and Memphis State. She was a reader, knitter and quilter and loved her family above all else.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Sher of St. Louis, Missouri and brother, Moody Barrentine of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; her children, Katrina (David) of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, Mark (Kate) of Dover, Massachusetts, John (Elizabeth) of Blacksburg, Colin (Uma) of Seattle, Washington and Kevin (Sarah) of Skowhegan, Maine. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Salem (Jennifer), Loran, Ian (Mandy), Aidan (Margo), Anabel, Mirabai, Kabir and Emelia; and two stepdaughters, Helen (David) Codron of Los Angeles, California and Judy Bauer (Ed) of Blacksburg.
A memorial celebration will be held July 25, noon to 3 p.m., at the Alexander Black House at 204 Draper Road SW for family and friends.
Many thanks to the Kroontje Health Care Center staff and to Warm Hearth Hospice for their care, especially during these last months.
In lieu of flowers consider donations to the Blacksburg Food Pantry, the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library or the Warm Hearth Foundation. She is loved and missed by many.
