A former Radford Bobcat and now-Liberty Christians Academy (LCA) quarterback has committed to the University of South Carolina.
Luke Gaither, who is a rising senior, made the announcement on Friday.
The 6-4, 185-pound Gaither is being listed as a preferred walk-on for Coach Shane Beamer, who coincidently grew up in nearby Blacksburg. He has amassed 3,904 yards, 31 touchdowns and 14 interceptions over his high school career. This past season, he threw for 1,232 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for two more.
During his sophomore season at Radford, he was named the all-county/all-city player of year after completing 208 completions on 360 attempts for 2,472 yards with a 57.8 percent completion rate and 20 touchdowns. He also rushed for another score on the ground.
He chose SC over Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte and Liberty. Gaither is the second quarterback to join the Gamecocks’ 2027 class (Jacob Meyer III).
This move means Radford would have two former QB’s playing in the Southeastern Conference. Former Radford and Elon signal caller Landon Clark is now on the LSU sidelines.
