Starting Memorial Day, Taste of Tech Summer delivers free Hokie-themed gameday recipes straight to fans’ inboxes, all summer long.
From the fan-favorite Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese to the HokieBird’s own Touchdown Turkey Chili, each recipe is built for Hokie Nation’s backyard grills, lake days, 4th of July cookouts, and every summer gathering in between, no matter where your summer plans take you.
You will receive the full recipe series, free, delivered weekly through August.
At the end of the summer, subscribed fans will have the exclusive opportunity to submit their own favorite recipe for the chance to be featured.

IHRA promotes Farthing
The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has announced the appointment of Dustin Farthing as the new President of the organization, marking a major step forward in the company’s continued expansion across multiple motorsports disciplines.
Farthing brings decades of experience as both a world champion racer and successful business leader. Widely recognized as one of the most accomplished personal watercraft racers in the world, Farthing has earned more than 30 professional world championships throughout his career while also competing across multiple forms of motorsports including offshore racing, snow cross, and Lamborghini Super Trofeo competition.
Walz returns to Blacksburg
One of the greatest athletes, and the most credentialed heavyweight in program history, to ever don the orange and maroon returns to his alma mater. Virginia Tech wrestling head coach announced the addition of as assistant coach to complete the Hokies’ coaching staff ahead of the 2026-2027 season.
Walz returns to Blacksburg after a three-year tenure in Providence, Rhode Island where he was instrumental in the recruitment and development of Andrew Reall and Alex Semeneko. Both unranked recruits out of high school, Walz guided Reall to an individual Ivy League Conference title, 2026 NCAA Championship Round of 12 finish, and a tied program best 37-6 season record. In addition, he coached Semeneko to an Ivy League finals appearance, an NCAA Championship berth, and finishing the season in the top ten pinfall list across the NCAA twice.
AD search committee
Virginia Tech has formed the search committee tasked with recruiting the next vice president and director of athletics.
Reporting to the president, the vice president and director of athletics works closely with university leadership to set and communicate a bold, forward-looking vision for Virginia Tech Athletics that positions the program for sustained relevance, competitiveness, and financial growth. This person will serve as the primary liaison to the university president, the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors, and senior administration to ensure athletics strategy is tightly integrated with the broader university mission.
The new vice president and director of athletics will fill the position left by effective June 30.

Hall of Fame ballot
Twenty individuals with ties to current Atlantic Coast Conference football programs, including 18 former student-athletes, have been named to the 2027 National Football Foundation (NFF) College Football Hall of Fame ballot, the NFF announced today. ACC representatives comprise nearly one-fourth of the 80 Football Bowl Subdivision players under consideration for induction, joining a ballot that includes nine coaches from the FBS ranks and an additional 138 players and coaches from NCAA divisional and NAIA programs.
The ballot includes former Virginia Tech defensive standout Cornell Brown.
Brown was a two-time First Team All-American (consensus—1995) and 1995 Football News National Defensive Player of the Year, 1995 Big East Defensive Player of the Year and three-time All-Big East selection led the Hokies to two conference titles and ranks second in Tech history with 36 career sacks, only trailing Hall of Famer Bruce Smith. The 2027 Hall of Fame class will be announced in early 2027 and formally inducted during the 69th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas.
Cattoor joins Hokie staff
will make his return to Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum in 2026, this time as an assistant coach for the Hokies, announced Thursday.
An athlete who was originally committed to Coach Young at Wofford, Cattoor followed his head coach to Blacksburg in 2019 where he would go on to play for five seasons and set the program record for games played with 152 while raising an ACC Championship banner and appearing in two NCAA tournaments.
Cattoor most recently played with the Long Island Nets of the G League where he averaged 8.4 points in 27 regular season games played. He shot 43% from beyond the arc and contributed 1.8 boards per game.
He also spent a season in the LNB (French first division) with BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque.
